KAY HILLSTONE

As the daughter of two musical parents, it wasn't long before Kay Hillstone came into contact with the lively world of music. Her father was a bass player and her mother was a singer. It was the time of legendary singers like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. Her own musical preferences were more for musicals, Motown Music and songs performed by powerful voices.

Kim turned out to be an impressive mezzo-soprano. The first time she was asked to perform was at the wedding of a cousin, which led to the proposal to audition as a voice for the Union Big Band (UB2). She entered the world of crooners, music from the 40s and 50s, typical big band music. In addition, she was noticed by the big band in her hometown, which led to a cooperation.

Things evolved fast, 'Bozart' and 'Het Sportpaleis Antwerpen' had Kay Hillstone on their stages. There were several solo projects and UB2 won the first prize in the big band competition of the 'Gentse Feesten'. As a backing and leading vocalist she worked for a series of well-known artists. She was asked three times on Exclusive Night.
